About Us
Edmonton Public Schools is committed to providing safe and efficient transportation for students who depend on buses to get to school each day. To do this, Student Transportation works closely with schools to provide students and their parents with the services they need.
Student Transportation supports schools in their instructional focus by ensuring that our students are transported in a safe and timely manner and arrive ready to learn.
Edmonton Public Schools exceeds the guidelines set out by Alberta Education in the provision of its transportation services for students.
Edmonton Transit (ETS) is the preferred means of student transportation, but where Edmonton Transit to the designated school is not appropriate or available, Student Transportation arranges for yellow bus service. Subsidized ETS bus passes are sold to more than 18,000 students every month.
Yellow bus service is provided to more than 8,000 students daily. There are more than 4,900 students who receive busing because they do not have a school in their neighborhood. There are more than 3,000 students who receive Special Education Needs curb-service busing. There are 16 alternative program choices at 43 schools that offer some yellow bus options. More than half of the 206 schools offer some of the 15 Special Education Needs programs and have yellow bus services.
